Hey, so, if you're like me, you've been sitting around desperately wanting to help with the whole Katrina horror (if you're like me, you also aren't really financially capable of making any sort of meaningful monetary donation). So one option is to go to the People Finder Volunteer site and spend some time doing data entry. It's a site that's trying to compile all the missing/found persons data that's floating around the internet. There's a lot of it to go through, so they need as many people as possible to help out. It took me half an hour to go through one 25-post batch, and those are 25 people whose families now know where to look for them. Every little bit counts!

Good idea, also drop by a clinic and give some blood. Those guys at DirectNIC are amazing.

Definitely. It's on my list of things to do tomorrow. I got my nose pierced last year, so I couldn't give blood for a long time, so I got out of the habit. Now is the time to resume my old blood-donating schedule.

i really miss you. ordinarily i do, but tonight and today more than usual. i realized, or came to the conclusion, that i need to get some counseling. things have not been fantastic in my head lately, and the meanness that is my mind's way of relating to itself is making me weird and off-putting to my friends that are here. i've pretty much sliced contact with everyone i knew before college as of this summer i guess. and now i am cautious of through my hyperactive suspicious self-damaging mind endangering a relationship with a really good person who waits until i've been grouchy for a while and then blows raspberrys on my tummy in a way that is somehow not annoying and reminds me of you.
i guess i've been ignoring how much my mind-weirdness is connected to my discomfort on campus. i left a lecture tonight because i saw someone in the audience. and was anxious enough to consider not taking a class on africa because i thought he might be in it. i've decided maybe i'm not just having some killer PMS.
but on the other hand, i find the whole counseling thing a little weird. and maybe overreactive. except that i'm causing problems.
